ABSTRACT
The
results from this study showed that there was a new
group of hill mynah in Thailand which had different
morphology from the original groups, northern and
southern birds. This new hill mynah group was found
in Karnchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Petchaburi, Rayong,
Chaantaburi, Trad, Prachuabkirikun, Chumpon and Ranong.
They bred with both northern and southern birds. Their
yellow wattle shapes looked differently from both
original birds and their body sizes were not as small
as northern birds but not as large as southern ones.
How did they occur in the nature? What is their population
density? Where else in Thailand are they found? How
does genetic variate withen population or northern
bird crossbreed with southern group? All of these
questions are needed to be studied in order to solve
if they are new subspecies or not.
